About Me

Hi! My name is Paula. I am a native speaker of Finnish, a linguist and an experienced Finnish teacher – I have taught at University level, at language schools and integration programs, and have worked several years as a full-time private Finnish teacher. I love helping my students become proficient in this language which is often called difficult, but which I know to be absolutely learnable. Seeing my students make progress and make discoveries is the most rewarding thing about this job. My biggest aim in teaching Finnish is to teach communication and to encourage my students to use Finnish from the very beginning, both during lessons and in everyday life. For that to be possible, I make sure I create a friendly and welcoming learning environment in which my students can freely try things out and build their confidence in using Finnish in everyday life. I have seen dozens and dozens of people advance from a beginner to a fluent speaker, and would be very happy to help you make that journey too.
